The Renegade Company and Spirit Forward are teaming up to present an evening of cocktails and performances inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s In The Garden of Earthly Delights.
You are cordially invited to celebrate the iconic painting. The Renegade Company along with Spirit Forward presents a cocktail pop-up in the Southwark and Queen Village Community Garden. Renegade continues its exploration of iconic works of art by presenting a promenade-style performance where the audience feels like they are in Bosch’s painting. Spirit Forward, led by {one of Philadelphia's premier craft drink makers, Dan Hamm,} will create cocktails {that draw inspiration from elements in} the community garden {as they relate to the imagery in} Bosch’s painting.
The Renegade Company celebrates, challenges, and deconstructs the iconography of quintessential artworks, and creates original theatrical pieces and that repurpose those works. Residing in Philadelphia, Renegade is rooted in the community we call our home. With partnerships with local artisans, from puppeteers to ice cream makers, Renegade incorporates myriad sensory experiences in each multidisciplinary piece. A Renegade show can take shape within different locales embracing the vibrancy and diversity of the city. Renegade seeks to take the familiar works and explores them through a modern lens, drawing on canonical memories and invigorating them with contemporary context.
Most recently Renegade has presented a version of Beowulf and Grendel at Mount Moriah Cemetery in the Kingsessing neighborhood.
Spirit Forward brings the alluring world of craft cocktails to life through a deep passion for the art behind a well-crafted drink. Specializing in hands-on classes, full-service catering and signature events, owners Dan Hamm and Stephanie Smith, create beautifully designed, handcrafted experiences in and around Philadelphia. As a craft bartender who caught the cocktail bug through his love for cooking, drinking and DIY, and as a visual artist interested in creating and capturing, Dan and Steph are always developing new techniques and fun events that highlight unique drinking experiences.
The audience will be in two waves, one at 5-6:30pm, and the other at 6:30-8pm. The experience is a choose-your-own-path style, where the audience explores the garden at their own discretion. Performances and cocktails will be found along the paths.
